Starbucks Oatmeal & Coffee = Powerhouse Pairing

I do like my Starbucks Pike Place roast coffee, double-cupped, on my morning drives to work. Recently, Starbucks has been pushing a new, healthy-alternative breakfast menu. On that menu, you will find an array of tasty looking treats that are both lower in calories and fats. Their new “perfect oatmea” with nuts and dried fruits especially caught my discerning eyes. After several days of talking myself out of ordering one, I finally gave in under the pressures of curiosity.

If you have not tried this item or think that you will not like it, you should really reconsider. Oatmeal not only helps to lower your cholesterol but will also “stick to your ribs”, as my grandmother told me growing up. This oatmeal is amazingly good, especially when you consider that its fast food! Included with your piping-hot Starbucks oatmeal bowl, you get a packet of brown sugar, a packet of almond slivers and walnuts, and a dried fruit pack comprised of cherries, blueberries, yellow raisins, and cranberries. This healthy alternative really shines on the menu, as evidenced by the numbers of customers adding this menu item to their morning routine. Starbucks has confirmed that their perfect oatmeal has exploded in popularity/sales and thankfully so, considering the recent declines in sales and store closures that the chain has experienced. Who would have ever thought that oatmeal would pick a coffee store up during hard times. If you love oatmeal, you owe it to yourself to check this out. Try venturing outside of your fast food/coffee comfort zone and try something new. I’m sure glad that I did.
